The winning cover is of Afar’s 2018 Epic Trips issue, where writer Freda Moon traveled to Ultima Thule, a luxury adventure lodge in Alaska’s Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, one of the most remote park units in the country. Guests reach the lodge via bush plane, which provided the perfect vantage point for photographer Brian Flaherty’s cover image.
