Taipei's Chicest Watering Hole: WOOBAR
Dubbed the official “living room” of the W Taipei hotel, WOOBAR oozes contemporary Asian glamour. Designed in modern red and black, Taipei’s chicest watering hole boasts soaring ceilings and a variety of innovative lounge seating, including a popular pool-front patio. Although WOOBAR’s excellent cocktail list and frequent parties could easily keep the loyalty of the bar’s current clientele—an enticing mix of international travelers mingling with Taipei’s hip crowd—WOOBAR spices things up with a constant rotation of day-specific drink specials. My personal favorite, Mojito Mondays, means insane deals on pitcher after pitcher of “Woojitos”. Two Woojitos include a Taiwanese twist: The “Taipei”, mixed with house-made ginger infused vodka; and the “Passion”, which makes solid use of the city’s abundance of fresh passion fruit. A side order of fries with truffle mayo is a must. Between Mojito Mondays, Sparkling Wednesdays, and Sangria Sundays, if WOOBAR rolled out a few more drink-day alliterations, I’d happily show up every day of the week.
