Last time I was in Napa Valley, it was a hot October weekend, and I wanted to stop with my two kids at the popular Gott’s Roadside diner. The line was around the corner, but fortunately I knew that Tra Vigne was just down the road. Tra Vigne has been a favorite stop of mine in Napa Valley since I first decided to give it a try many years ago. It’s an Italian restaurant and a wine bar/cantinetta. Tra Vigne is located right on Highway 29 about half way up Napa Valley, just before St. Helena, so it makes a convenient stop on a day of wine tasting through Napa Valley. The cozy dining room beckons, but when the weather is nice (as it usually is), ask for a table outside--there is plenty of outdoor seating on two patios. The salads and pizzas are consistently good and showcase quality ingredients. And in case you’re traveling in Napa Valley with kids like I was last time...While Tra Vigne may not seem like a kid-friendly restaurant, they make kids comfortable by offering them crayons, paper, and a simple cheese pizza (upon request).
