A clandestine spot to imbibe in Gastown, the Diamond is the speakeasy when you’re in Vancouver. Bar none, one of the best bars I have been to on recommendation from Nathan at Judas Goat. They will make you anything here, like a tasty pisco sour. Plus, they give you these really cute glasses with flowers on them. We didn’t try the menu, but if it’s anything like the drinks, I’ll be returning for a meal.

Why have one bar when you could have two?
That’s what the fine folk at Gastown legends, The Diamond believe, all you need do is decide whether you’re in the mood to sit in the spacious chandelier and candle-lit main bar, or fancy the fun chaos of the far smaller ‘Happy Hour’ room. Classic cocktails are the order of the day in the main space, and the staff are wonderfully knowledgable about the history of cocktails. Back in the Happy Hour you’ll find a smaller list of rotating drinks. Things become loud with DJs playing on Wednesday and Sunday nights. Definitely the place to meet and make new friends in Gastown. Try their dollar negiri sushi on special each night between 5.30-7.30pm from Master Hiroto, and make mine an Aviation, they do it so well here.
