Thomas Crean, a member of Shackleton’s Endurance crew, came home to Annascaul to start the South Pole Inn as a pub and inn. Great pints of Guinness, a wonderful meal and plenty of chips for all to enjoy! For a small price, a room is also available above the inn. Come see pictures of the Antartica expedition that made and created history!

Cold Beer & Lovely Hospitality at the South Pole (Inn)!
A great place to visit on Ireland’s Dingle peninsula is Tom Crean’s South Pole Inn! Those of you familiar with Antarctic explorations know Crean. He participated in three major explorations, Scott’s Discovery & Terra Nova expediations and Shackleton’s Endurance. All three trips were beyond challenging, but Crean’s contributions ensured survival of the groups. He is very much an Unsung Hero (also the title of a new book about him). When Tom came home to Annascaul, he opened the South Pole Inn, so he could always be at the South Pole! The food is tasty, the hospitality is warm, and the Crean’s lager is cold and very lovely! In fact, Crean’s lager is so tasty that giant Guinness wanted to buy it but the Dingle Brewing Co. said NO, making this a truly wonderful, local specialty!
