Glass-Blowing Session in Shanghai

Besides dazzling displays, the Shanghai Museum of Glass holds another gem worth making the trek up north: glass-blowing classes. Not sure what to expect, we signed up and were delighted by what ensued. After choosing what we wanted to make from a selection of objects on display, our translator and expert glass blower set about helping us create incredible vases, pitchers and even a glass pumpkin! If you’ve got a few days to wait for your creation to cool, this is a rare opportunity—and a pretty cool souvenir. If you don’t have enough time to wait for your finished work of art, check out some of their other DIY options like glass etching, fusing or painting. Open Tue-Sun 9:30 – 17:00 (closed Mondays) Tel: +86-21-66181970 E-mail: shmog@shmog.org
