Dotting the sea south of St. Vincent are the 30-some islands that make up the Grenadines. The closest of them is Bequia, just 14 kilometers (nine miles), or an hour’s ferry ride, from Kingstown. The island’s capital, Port Elizabeth, sits on Admiralty Bay, one of the Caribbean’s more photogenic harbors thanks to its yachts and surrounding lush, green hills. The small town is a throwback to a simpler time in the Caribbean, with its modest cottages, chickens wandering the streets and a few low-key waterfront bars and restaurants.
