The front section of this small spot was crowded with locals having a quick drink and a plate of cicchetti. We had reserved one of the six tables in the back. The menu, written on a blackboard, was all almost all unknown to me. Thankfully my Milanese traveling partners were there to translate. We ordered plates of baccala manecato and polenta, a Venetian style fish lasagna, and a seafood pasta. All washed down with jugs of a cold local white.

Traditional Venetian Osteria
A tiny place, not easy to find, but if you manage not to get lost, just a 10 min walk from San Marco. At the bar you get chiccetti and wine, people stand around the counter and outside, eating, drinking and chatting. The restaurant part has only 8 tables, it´s better to book in advance. You find the menu written on the board, only 6-8 items per course, if you need a translation, the staff will help. (We noticed next table). The food is fresh cooked (not easy to find in Venice nowadays) lots of seafood plates. We went twice and tried the tun cappaccio, riso nero con scampi, mixed seafood, linguine allo scoglio, biscottini veneziani con fragolino, chocolate souffle, everything divine. A great place to eat traditional Venetian food in an authentic restaurant!
