Lulu’s Bakery & Cafe

918 N Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78212, USA

We like to search for unique experiences when we travel, so when I heard about the five-pound cinnamon roll at Lulu’s, I had to check it out. I should say that we prefer to travel on the healthy side and usually seek out the new health food or vegetarian restaurants when we visit a city, but “when in Rome,” right? We threw our health consciousness to the wind and set a course for Lulu’s Bakery & Cafe, where comfort food is made to order 24/7. It’s famous for the chicken-fried steak, but there are also some lighter options on the menu. The main attraction, though, is the massive cinnamon roll. When we arrived, we learned that it actually weighs in at three pounds and not the rumored five pounds, but we were not disappointed by its size. We were shocked when we saw the sweet treat delivered to the table. We promptly ordered coffee and dove in. The cinnamon rolls are made to order and served piping hot with icing and cinnamon oozing from the moist bread. The thing is not only humungous, but it’s delicious too. We only finished a third of it before we were stuffed, but the cinnamon roll packs up well and is ready to eat again after a few minutes in the microwave. I will never forget this experience. And, yes, everything really is bigger in Texas.
