La Ménagére

R, Via de' Ginori, 8, 50123 Firenze FI, Italy

La Ménagère is simultaneously a breakfast spot, a tapas and cocktail bar, a flower shop, a café, a housewares store, and a restaurant. The large space, once home to a famous Florentine home-goods emporium, is now a ramble of beautiful rooms that serve many needs. The bright and airy bar area is the site for breakfast, lunch, aperitifs, and cocktails, while dinner can be eaten in several of the other charming rooms, including a narrow passage set with a long communal table. There’s even a downstairs space where live music is played a few nights a week.

Multi-purpose space with great food

It’s difficult to know what to call new Florence opening La Ménagère: it’s a café, flower shop, tapas and cocktail bar, bistrot, purveyor of gorgeous homeware and restaurant all under the same roof. Done out in the retro, shabby-chic style that has recently taken Florence by storm, the huge space is divided into a series of inter-connecting rooms so you never feel overwhelmed. The central bar area is used for breakfast, lunch and aperitivi with tapas while dinner is served either at what must be the longest table in a restaurant anywhere or in rooms adjoining the open kitchen. Dishes are rooted in the Mediterranean with just enough variation to keep things interesting: honey-glazed salmon with fennel and peach salad, tagliolini with spicy mussels with a hint of lemon grass and suckling pig with roasted apple and an orange sauce.

La Menagere

La Menagere, is like serenity in a cup. Greeted by a flower shop upon entrance and the smell of fresh baked goods and brewed coffee. One cannot ask for more. Plus the ambiance is just absolutely adorable.
