The fictional character Anne Shirley (the Anne of Green Gables) is celebrated at author Lucy Maud Montgomery’s cousins’ farm and home, which provided much of the inspiration for the book and has been restored to the period of the late 1800s. A stop at the quaint North Rustico fishing village can also be part of a day spent exploring the area. For even more on the legendary heroine, visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum at Montgomery’s aunt and uncle’s home, Silver Bush, in Park Corner.
