The Feria Artesanal, a crafts market on Coihaique’s Plaza de Armas, is one of the city’s main attractions. Here you’ll find all kinds of items, most of them sourced from the area’s biggest industry—sheep. You’ll come across sheepskin rugs, woolen goods (it’s not a bad idea to snag a sweater here, as the weather in Patagonia can often be cold and wet) and other handmade goods from local ranches. Coihaique’s cathedral, a unique, modernist A-frame building, is also on the plaza if you crave some sightseeing after shopping.
