The vast ranches known as estancias in Argentine Spanish are typically associated with the Pampas, to the north of Patagonia. Just south of Puerto Madryn, however, the Estancia San Guillermo includes some 2,700 hectares (6,672 acres) of land. The estancias of the Pampas are famous for raising cattle, while San Guillermo is centered on sheep, and traditional shearing techniques are demonstrated for guests. The estancia also serves a traditional Argentine parrillada, or barbecue meal.
