Everyone in Berlin has a favorite place to eat currywurst—tasty chopped pork sausage doused in a sauce made of curry powder and ketchup—but Curry 36 in Kreuzberg (along with Konnopke’s in Prenzlauer Berg) is one of the most consistently popular spots to procure this famous street-food snack. In fact, the place is so trendy that it sells Curry 36 merchandise in the shape of hoodies and even its own branded ketchup. Besides currywurst, the stall serves other sausage-y delights such as bockwurst and krakauers, as well as related meat products like burgers and meatballs. To be extra authentic, order your currywurst ohne darm (without skin) and enjoy it while standing at one of the outdoor tables.

Currywurst in Kreuzberg
Curry 36, located on Mehringdamm in Kreuzberg, is one of Berlin‘s many currywurst kiosks. This stand, though, is one of the best, and it’s popular day and night. Currywurst is a Berlin local speciality—essentially a sausage/wurst doused in ketchup with curry powder. The type of sausage you order is what makes it unique though, and at Curry 36 the prices are cheap so you can sample what you like.
Currywurst and Beck's - Berlin's Ubiquitous Street Food
No Berlin experience is complete without a sampling of the city’s preferred late night (or anytime) street food - currywurst. It’s exactly what it sounds like - curry spiced bratwurst, slathered in curry ketchup with a side of fries. Curry 36 in Kreuzberg is particularly fantastic, but there dozens of stalls around the city to pick from. Grab a half-liter of Beck’s to wash it down and the entire package should run you no more than 4 euros. Sweet deal for the wanderer on the go and on a budget. Definitely a guilty pleasure more in line with 2AM post-bar nibbles than power food for an all-day adventurer but damn, is it addictively delicious. Don’t leave Berlin without sampling at least once!
