Built at the turn of the millennium, this concrete icon (the name translates to Third Millennium Cross) stands high above Coquimbo on El Vigía Hill. Local officials claim it is South America’s tallest monument to the Christian faith, even besting Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer statue. All visitors will enjoy the best view in Coquimbo from the hilltop observatory here, which looks out across the city and to the port itself.
