It’s a sad fact that many swaths of Johannesburg aren’t exactly walkable, but that’s not the case at Melrose Arch, a trendy complex filled with some of the city’s hottest restaurants, galleries, and shops. Guests are in the heart of the action if they book a stay at the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel, a slick property with 118 stylish, contemporary rooms adorned with modern African art. And now that the hotel falls under the Marriott family umbrella, guests can expect all sorts of perks and upgrades associated with the brand.

Breakfast from the March Restaurant is a Great Way To Start Your Day
As you walk into the Melrose Arch hotel, turn left towards the Giant bucket where you’ll find the March Restaurant and an equally giant buffet breakfast spread! Accompanied by a fantastic cappuccino (rumours are it’s one of the best in town), the March Breakfast buffet is a great way to start your day. The Eggs Benedict were particularly delicious! Once you pass all the beautiful flowers, and dig a little deeper to travel down the rabbit hole of the Alice in Wonderland inspirations, you’ll find there’s also 4 private dining rooms, each with it’s own theme and full AV facilities, which means it’s great not only for small business meetings, but also for intimate dinner parties where you can play the role of iPhone DJ. Oh and the best bit... there’s a butler button for when you need someone at your beck and call! If you’re looking to go for dinner, be sure to make a booking on Friday or Saturday evenings as the popular restaurant does get very busy and you wouldn’t want to miss out on a great dining experience.
Don't Forget The Rubber Duckies!
Staying at a hotel for me is usually just a place to sleep in and hopefully it’ll be comfortable. This is where the Melrose Arch Hotel stands out above the crowd. The hotel aims to be different to other 5 star hotels in the vicinity by researching who their clients are and what their needs are in order to provide a completely unforgettable boutique experience. From music and movie choices to favourite foods, the hotel’s staff will aim to make your stay the most memorable experience you’ve had in a long time. A spacious en-suite bathroom accessorised with cute rubber ducks, completes the luxurious room, which has a recessed entertainment unit and a safe that is hidden behind a painting so as not to ruin the modern minimalistic feel. I’m told the rubber ducks always get taken from the rooms when guests leave. If you want to venture out and about you can laze around at the pool side with it’s Alice in Wonderland inspired giant buckets or chill out in the Library Bar with a drink and a book. You can even head out down to the Melrose Arch Piaza and do a bit of shopping!
