San Francisco, CA. (May 11, 2009)—Preparing for its much-anticipated August 2009 launch, AFAR—a new experiential travel magazine founded by entrepreneurs Greg Sullivan and Joe Diaz—announces additions to its sales force. Joining AFAR’s experienced ad sales team are Chris Cuomo as Miami-based Sales Manager of the Southeast, Caribbean, and Central America, and Cha Mueller as Los Angeles-based West Coast Sales Director.

Cuomo has more than a decade and a half of media sales experience. He is the founder of C2-Media, an independently owned media sales company based in Miami, Florida. Cuomo began the company in 2005 exclusively representing National Geographic Traveler in the Southeast and Caribbean, where in the first year he doubled the revenue base for the 20 year old magazine. Prior to launching C2-Media, Cuomo spent time at National Geographic Society, Time, Inc., Thomson Financial Publishing and Gannett Company, Inc. Cuomo is a graduate of Iona College and a member of The Southeast Tourism Society and The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association. He resides in Miami, Florida.
A 20-year advertising industry veteran with more than a decade of agency experience, Mueller joins AFAR with a media sales background at publications as diverse as Gourmet and The Sporting News. Mueller is the founder of Chalamode LLC, a boutique media sales company where she currently represents Dwell. Prior to that, Mueller served as Southern California Sales Director for Conde Nast’s Gourmet where she earned the distinction of Gourmet’s “Break-Out Star.” Mueller also brings experience from Viacom having launched their west coast cross platform division and The Sporting News, where she managed online and offline business for clients such as DeBeers Diamonds, Absolute Vodka, Gillette, and more. Before her media sales career, Mueller spent 12 years working at some of the country’s top agencies including Chiat/Day/Mojo, Young & Rubicam, and Wells, Rich, Greene.
